Where meditation and yoga practice intersect
A 2 or 5 day retreat
Aug. 21-23rd: 2 days
Aug. 21-26: 5 days
“Listen, are you breathing just a little, and calling it a life?” (Mary Oliver)
Meditation and yoga, on this retreat, will be part of one seamless practice. Sometimes we will be sitting, sometimes lying, sometimes moving, sometimes still. In every moment we can open to the healing, awakening power of unconditioned awareness. When this awareness touches the body, it becomes fluid, alive and grounded. When it touches the emotions, the heart softens and releases its armour. When it touches the mind, we can allow the energy that is usually entangled with our thinking to stream down into the basic sanity and aliveness of the body.
We can feel the openness inside the head as we let the energy descend, down into heart, into belly, into earth. We can discern the difference between the direct experience of this moment and what our thoughts are telling us about this moment. We realize that the body is not what we think it is—it is fluid, dynamic, connected to everything. When we touch the mystery and aliveness of our authentic Being, new ways of living and acting reveal themselves to us, without effort or struggle.
We will be focusing on:
Using the breath to cleanse, soothe, and rejuvenate your being
Awakening and increasing core strength and flexibility
Supporting the natural resilience of your nervous system
Understanding the different zones of the body
Working with the energetic and emotional bodies
Refining your basic alignment in both sitting and standing postures
Opening to the healing bliss of being present and fully alive
We will also be working on bringing this practice right into your day to day life, so that the way you move, breathe and rest supports your natural vitality and well-being.
The tuition for this retreat is by donation, directly to Shayla. The cost for food and lodging is $105.
